Covid-19: Emergency Financial Advice
With Covid-19 bringing our safety and security into sharp focus, and with the effect the pandemic and lockdown has had on financial markets and on pension pots, there is a clear need for access to financial advice and planning for those reaching retirement or concerned about how they will live in retirement.
Which is why I read a piece in Money Marketing a couple of weeks ago with great interest.
The piece concerned an initiative by William Burrows, a respected pensions and retirement specialist and director of the Northampton based advice firm Better Retirement, to make 'emergency financial advice' available to the over 50s during the crisis.
Burrows proposed that a new website, independent of any firm, would facilitate free telephone consultations for people concerned about their pensions and their later years, and invited financial advisers to agree to offer free advice sessions to anyone who wants to speak to a financial adviser, no matter how small their financial wealth.
Alongside around fifty other like-minded financial advisers, I got in touch with William to join this initiative, with the service going 'live' this week. Great stuff.
It is particularly pleasing to see that this well-needed initiative has already received press attention, with this piece in the Telepgraph the first of hopefully many articles.
If you are a journalist and would like to cover this initiative, please get in touch with William Burrows here for more information.
